Episode 15: Incorporating Mindfulness into High School and the College Admissions Journey

Listen Now:

High schools and colleges are incorporating mindfulness and meditation into all aspects of their curriculum and colleges are investing in wellness centers. Given the current situation, now more than ever students, parents, educators, and businesses are all looking at ways to reduce the anxiety and stress in our daily lives.

We invited Carolyn Caplan (aka AdmissionsMom) on our show today to help us learn more about mindfulness and the benefits of incorporating mindfulness into the high school and college admissions journey. Carolyn's interest in mitigating stress in college admissions has led her to find mindfulness, meditation, and yoga, and to become both a certified Yoga teacher and a Koru Mindful Meditation teacher.

Key Takeaways:

  • What mindfulness means and its role in the college admissions process
  • How Reddit can help answer your college questions
  • Imaging the college experience that you want as a student and catering your list to those criteria
    • The Bench Test on college visits
  • Essay tips for the Class of 2021
  • Why a little bit of stress is good for you
  • How to stay involved, but not in complete control of your kid’s college process
