This week (and I am sure we will hear a lot more in the weeks to come) has been consumed with Operation Varsity Blues. We could debate how to fix the system for hours, days, and weeks but we know something has to change.

We need to let our kids advocate for themselves. We need to let them fail and get back up. We need to let them learn and grow on their own without our constant input and guidance. We need to listen more. We need to support them from afar. Julie-Lythcott-Haims, an author and former dean of freshman at Stanford, compared it to teaching your child to drive. “You start out in the driver’s seat with the goal to end up in the back seat.”
